LOT is a national graduate school in which seven major research institutes/groups of linguists in the Netherlands, from the universities of Amsterdam (UvA & VU), Groningen, Leiden, Nijmegen, Tilburg, Utrecht and the MPI-Nijmegen have joined forces. It is the goal of LOT: (i) to provide a national forum to advance communication between the research programs of the various participating institutes with a view to short- and long-term collaboration; (ii) to stimulate new initiatives and developments in research; (iii) to create frameworks in which socially relevant aspects of linguistic research can be profitably exploited; (iv) to stimulate international communication for the benefit of research and education; (v)to continue and develop the national curriculum for graduate students in linguistics.
